A Simple Secret

Adam will collaborate with Henry Jenkins, violin and Boris Chalakov, cello on the Brahms Piano Trio No. 1 and the U.S. premiere of Canadian composer Kevin Lau’s “A Simple Secret.”

Adam is a Chinese Canadian pianist, singer, and visual artist. Having received training in both classical piano and environmental engineering, Adam’s approach to music is methodical, articulated, but never rigid.

As a classical musician, Adam is known for his broad experience working with orchestras, chamber ensembles, choirs, and contemporary worship bands. He is also a champion of new music including choral pieces, art songs, and instrumental solos.

Adam currently lives in Omaha and is the director of worship and music ministries at West Hills Church.

Boris Chalakov is a cello artist-faculty at Omaha Conservatory of Music and a substitute player with Omaha Symphony. Growing up in a musical family in his home country, Bulgaria, he completed his professional studies at the Academy of Music, Dance, and Fine Arts in Plovdiv. In 1993, he made history as the youngest member of the orchestras of the Plovdiv State Philharmonic and State Opera Plovdiv, institutions with which he performed in Bulgaria and across Europe and recorded for the labels Music Minus One and Danacord. The pursuit of personal and professional growth took him to Monterrey, Mexico, where he joined the Symphony Orchestra of the Autonomous University of Nuevo Leon. His international experience broadened his perspective and adaptability, establishing him as a sought-after educator, performer, and avid defender and promoter of Mexican Contemporary music. In addition, he held faculty positions at the Autonomous University of Nuevo Leon, and the College for Music and Dance in Monterrey.
Dr. Chalakov holds advanced degrees in Cello Performance and Music Education from The Ohio State University and Texas State University, where he studied on a full associateship and scholarship. His outstanding performances as a student and graduate associate were recognized during his studies.

Henry Jenkins is known for his versatility across multiple instruments, including baroque violin, banjo, and guitar. With a foundation in classical music, Henry brings a unique blend of technical precision and artistic expression, bridging genres from the Baroque period to bluegrass and folk. His ability to interpret and connect diverse musical styles makes him a sought-after artist in both traditional and contemporary settings.
In addition to serving as Associate Concertmaster in the Omaha Symphony, Henry enjoys playing in the St Paul Chamber Orchestra, and participating in the Omaha Chamber Music Society’s year-round concert series. He is also an active participant in the Nebraska Crossroads Music Festival.

Henry began his career serving as Assistant Concertmaster of the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic and the Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra. He also performed with the Evansville Philharmonic, Owensboro Symphony, and Indianapolis Symphony. Past festivals include the Artosphere Festival Orchestra, International Chamber Orchestra of Puerto Rico, National Repertory Orchestra, and the Iris Orchestra. Henry grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, where he attended the Oberlin Conservatory under the tutelage of Milan Vitek. During his undergraduate studies, Henry maintained an enthusiastic focus on chamber music, and attended the Litomysl International Masterclass in Czechia. Following graduation, he continued his studies with Kevork Mardirossian at the IU Jacobs School of Music. Henry supplemented his primary studies with a foray into baroque violin performance, studying with Stanley Ritchie.
